Nostalgia: Black fairy tale themed children’s book featured in SZA’s ‘fantastical’ visual of empowerment and self-love

Teaching black children to love themselves is more important today than it has ever been. In a world where words are always accompanied with wounds and representation is rare, affirmation from their surrounding community should be at an all time high for our young kings and queens.

SZA just recently released the visual for ‘Supermodel,’ one of the songs featured oDGWPZulV0AAxBZrn her latest album Ctrl. Within the first 13 seconds of the video you can figure out that you’re inside of a young girls room. You can see what looks like either the cover of a zoology book or a Lisa Frank Tiger notebook as well as the book cover for the black version of the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast written by Fred Crump Jr.
